Pilotless vs Standuply

TL;DR: Standuply is a broad Agile automation bot for Slack and Microsoft Teams: standups, retros, backlog refinement, planning poker, surveys and charts [1]. Pilotless does one narrow thing. It's a free GitHub App that writes a weekly digest from repo activity and lists stalled PRs and unassigned issues. Pick Standuply if you run Scrum ceremonies and want them in chat. Pick Pilotless if you want a weekly view of what's stuck in GitHub, with nothing for anyone to fill in.

How they work

Standuply describes itself as automating Agile processes through team surveys in Slack and Teams. It runs standups (text, voice or video answers), retros, backlog refinement, planning poker, 360-degree feedback and polls, and connects to Jira, GitHub and other tools to build burndown and cumulative flow charts [1]. If your team runs Scrum by the book, that's a lot of ceremony in one place.

Pilotless has no ceremonies. It reads GitHub, and once a week it updates one GitHub issue titled "pilotless: weekly status": a summary line (commits, people, PRs merged, issues closed and opened), then Shipped, In flight, Needs a decision or a nudge, Closed, and Who moved code (per-author commit counts). "Needs a decision or a nudge" lists stalled PRs (open, no activity for 7+ days) and unassigned issues (no assignee, quiet for 14+ days) [3][4]. Our opinion: many small teams don't need more process. They need the two or three stuck things to be visible.

Bottom line: Standuply automates Agile ceremonies in chat. Pilotless writes a weekly digest from GitHub.

Who Pilotless is for

Founder-CTOs and tech leads of 3–30 person software teams who work in GitHub and want to stay flat instead of adding a manager just to chase status. Not a fit if you need Slack today (on the roadmap, not live), Jira or GitLab, or help with people topics like 1:1s and careers.

Using both

They don't overlap much. Standuply can keep your ceremonies, and Pilotless writes the weekly GitHub digest in an issue. Nothing to migrate.

Not verified: Standuply's Team and Business prices. The rendered page showed "Loading..." in place of prices. The page source contains per-user values between $1.5 and $5.5 and flat fees of $199 and $299, but we couldn't match them to plans with confidence, so we haven't published them.
